Manly, destination of the Sydney Ferry and home of one of our best known beaches, now also boasts one of New South Wales' best garden centres. From humble beginnings in 1975, North Manly Garden Centre has grown to become a thriving business incorporating the best indoor and outdoor plants, with tasteful and unusual garden ornaments and a wonderful gift shop full to the brim with things simply not seen anywhere else.

North Manly Garden Centre was voted 'Best Garden Centre in New South Wales', in the annual awards of excellence conducted under the auspices of Garden Centres' of Australia (GCA) and sponsored by Yates.

The Garden Centre appears deceptively small from the front, but after entering through the arched courtyard, the whole nursery unfolds. Here, several of North Manly's original shops (circa 1918) have been opened out to adjoin each other- each room housing different departments.

The courtyard is always full of color - potted flowering annuals; shrubs in bloom; topiaries and displays showing creative ways of using them.

Leading off to the right are some inspirational displays of indoor plants and country furniture for indoors or out. There are some quite unusual plants here and innumerable varieties arranged to help customers imagine what they would look like in their own homes.

It really is the unusual that sets North Manly Garden Centre apart - and there is plenty of the unusual. From the 'Magic Tap' that pours water all day from mid-air; to a fog machine that lends an eerie atmosphere to some of the indoor plant displays; to an abundance of bird life in aviaries around the Centre - even the toilet is worth a look - we've never seen anything quite like it!

On entering the arched courtyard, you will be amazed to find that it encompasses 3 shops and half an acre of well stocked nursery and giftware.

Water features are an item which is often overlooked in creating a garden, and these are in abundance at North Manly, both indoors and out. There are many complete systems in various finishes - sandstone, terracotta, bronze, resin, etc., that can be purchased as is, or our staff can assist with modifications. We also carry a wide array of water garden accessories and aquatic plants. Outdoors, the nursery carries a range of plants more diverse than most, and includes a range of well-grown feature or specimen plants and advanced trees and shrubs, as well as all the general nursery lines.

Our large seedling selection is arranged in climatic zones sun, semi-shade and shade. In addition, over thirty varieties of herbs can be found in alphabetical order for ease of choice.

We also have native and exotic orchids, unusual cycads and a fabulous range of stags and elkhorns. Our Gift Shop which adjoins the Garden Centre is something else. Rarely do you see so many ornaments, gifts and collectables in one place. Hand-carved stone and marble pots, bronze statues, ceramics, pewter, silver and glassware all adorn the shelves.

These are supported by a range of antique goods including original Turkish olive jars, small furniture items, and several limited edition collector's ranges.

Gift wrapping is provided as a complimentary service and gift cards are readily available.

Atmosphere surrounds you as you wander and browse. The gift shop has quite a reputation, and stocks everything from collectibles to jewelry, gourmet food, to candles and soaps, CD's, windchimes, country furniture and much more.
